  4. One should always be drunk. That’s all that matters…But with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you chose. But get drunk.”—Charles Baudelaire

  5. In a couple months I will graduate from university with a degree in BA (Hons) Journalism. But ever since I was 16 I’ve been majorly interested in interior design and decor. I think at this point I realise there’s more than writing that I want to do in my future, so the time has come for me to develop and produce an interior-design inspired sketchbook where I put my original ideas, tips, photographs and materials all into one. I’ve got about 100 proposals for styling homes and who knows, maybe this is the beginning of something I could actually do and work with for my career. Perhaps one day I might apply for an interior-design course?

  6. Today my sister and I went to see Norman Parkinson’s exhibition at the National Theatre in London. We both absolutely loved it. Even though my sister is not particularly interested in neither photography nor fashion, she felt like the pictures carried a particular sense of belonging, a style and life to them. Here’s just a handful of examples that I really enjoyed studying with my eyes.

  8. They’re such beautiful and mysterious creatures. In fact I always wanted to own one (not in a Harry Potter-sense though!). Wouldn’t mind getting an owl tattoo some day…

  9. Got that creative vibe going on tonight… New doodles in my moleskine.

  10. When the whole of the internet appears cluttered and overwhelming, take a moment to just breathe…

A beautiful image that is a poem all unto itself.

  11. A Single Man (2009) written, produced and directed by Tom Ford

“India”, the dog that George sees in the car, belongs to Tom Ford.

The glass-and-wood home that George and Jim shared is a real house in Glendale, California: The Schaffer Residence, built in 1949 by the mid-century Modernist architect John Lautner (1911-1994).

Colin Firth’s character George mentions in a conversation with Nicholas Hoult that he once took mescaline and ended up shaving off one of his eyebrows. This actually happened to director Tom Ford; he was taking the drug with Stephen Spender when he went home, looked in the mirror and “thought it was taking over [his] face”.

  12. Just some doodles in my new sketchbook…
